There’s an old saying in winemaking. “How do you make a small fortune in the wine business? Start with a large one!” Success never comes easy in this vocation. It means taking incalculable risk. A leap of faith. It means falling and getting straight back up again….. and again. It takes drive and unwavering belief. It takes passion. It takes dogged determination. It takes grit. It takes blood and courage.

The Blood & Courage range is named in deference to the challenges and struggle of winemaking. An incredibly complex and financially challenging pursuit that is only for the daring and passionate. Possibly for the ignorant. Certainly not for the faint hearted.

These wines are also a celebration of what the Barossa Valley does best. ‘Modern Barossa’ to be more precise, which means an abundance of flavour but with sophistication, elegance, style and longevity. The warmth and generosity of premium fruit grown on the Barossa Valley floor, combined with our contemporary winemaking philosophy, is perfectly represented by the Blood & Courage range of modern Barossa Valley reds.

The Reserve Blood & Courage is blended from eight barrels of our finest Shiraz each vintage. Matured in only the highest quality French oak Barriques, this wine represents the rare combination of treasured and priceless old vines, distinguished growing sites and winemaking by hand, without compromise.

Barossa Valley Shiraz

Blood & Courage is classic, soulful Barossa Valley Shiraz hand-made using traditional winemaking methods. Mature vines producing beautiful Shiraz fruit. Open fermented with regular plunging and pump overs. French oak barriques and hogsheads for maturation. This classic Barossa Shiraz is fresh and lively, yet rich in texture with subtle oak and soft, well integrated tannins – simply a stylish wine

Barossa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

The warmth of the Barossa Valley floor produces soulful Cabernet Sauvignon with a beautiful, ripe tannin structure and generous flavour profile. The region does this effortlessly, so the winemaking trick is restraint. Fruit is not allowed to get over-ripe, which leaves lovely natural acidity and ripe, yet elegant fruit flavours.

Barossa Valley Shiraz Cabernet

When we set out to create our blend, we reflected on Australia’s signature red – Shiraz Cabernet. Two natural blending partners, where the sum of the parts is far greater than the individual components. This is an Australian classic, bringing harmony to the strength, structure and power of both varieties.

Barossa Valley GSM

Grenache, Shiraz and Mataro are three of the great red grape varieties that are the cornerstone to the Barossa Valley’s winemaking pedigree. Grenache provides the sumptuous savoury, spice and fragrance, and a gentle earthiness and leather with age. Mataro contributes deeper gamier flavours and flesh to the palate whilst Shiraz acts as a strong foundation to the blend, giving colour and structure.
