Prayer Garden Selection
Resurrection Vineyard, Ebenezer
BAROSSA VALLEY

The Special Selections Grenache is sourced from a small block on the flat, deep, red soils of our Ebenezer Resurrection vineyard. While the Grenache Block was only planted in 2003, the vine selection has great pedigree; original cuttings from the Riebke family's ancient ‘Prayer Garden’, so named because the 120 plus-year-old-vines grow on a 60cm high trellis, making pruners and pickers assume the ‘prayer’ kneeling position to do any work on the vines. This particular selection of Grenache is distinguished with its haunting purity and depth of flavour, showing the growing suitability of both the district, and more specifically, our Resurrection vineyard. Only four barrels of Grenache were able to be made from this harvest, so this wine is a considerable rarity!

Tony Keys - The Key Report

2015 Prayer Garden Grenache: 95 points

“Do you remember as a kid certain lollies, such as sherbet, exploded in the mouth, coating all parts in one explosive moment of pleasure? This is no lolly, and no kids drink, but the pleasure is instant and holds all the way to the end. 95 points and great value at $30 ”

Huon Hooke - Hooked on Wine

2015 Prayer Garden Grenache: 90 points

“Medium to light red colour with slight purple tinges. The bouquet is floral and light, high-toned and fragrant. It's light-bodied and attractively flavoured, with soft tannins and a savoury aftertaste. Very attractive grenache in a lighter-weighted style”

2015 Prayer Garden Grenache: 94 points

“This is cool but has hidden depths that PL brings to the fore halfway along the palate. It then intensifies to a smooth, long finish. 94 points and heaven, man, pure heaven. At $30 a bottle it's a giveaway.”

James Halliday - Wine Companion

2015 Prayer Garden Grenache : 94 points

“Aromatic lively red fruits, with some red jube nuances. This is grenache as it should be: no mawkish confection, and doesn't go soft on repeated tastes; as much dark as red fruit, its length and balance as pleasurable today as it will be in 5+ years.”

The Wine Front

2015 Prayer Garden Grenache : 91 points

“Comes from the Resurrection Vineyard in Ebenezer, 12 year old vines. Jubey, bright, spicy and floral. Medium bodied, fresh and lively, good depth of flavour, all raspberry sweetness tempered by some meaty and mineral complexity. Tannin is sure and fine grained, shapes and guides the wine nicely. Finishes sweet and juicy with a flourish of Grenache fanciness. Good balance and drinking appeal. Needs a year or two to settle down, but a promising debut. ”
